Der Daiwel steet virun der Dir
While we can discuss eternally about which is the best local death metal band (Dreaming In Red or Desdemonia), Ophidian stealthily
claimed the throne of the more melodic side of metal for themselves. They honoured us today not only with their visit, but Der
Daiwel was also the very first show to broadcast their new songs that will be released on their forthcoming album
No matter how you try to describe Ophidian, you will never do them justice. Gothic metal? Prog metal? Melodic metal? Nothing even
comes close to what best could be described as thinking man's metal. Local patriotism aside, they are one of the most original and
technically versatile heavy metal bands that I have heard in a long time.
Ophidian's new album is more mature than their preceding 5-songs EP. Where the mini-album was a pure transition of their live sound,
Ophidian used more than 90 digital tracks to get the powerful sound on The Awakening
. At times you hear
more than half a dozen guitars at once, and Caroline's still the best singer you will find in and around Luxembourg. Check out their
for forthcoming shows to see them at their furious live shows.
